At-Home Tips from David Gray Electrical Services
Before you call an electrician for help, you may want to do some basic checks around the house to see if your problem has an easy fix. Here are some tips from our team at David Gray Electrical Services to help you determine whether your problem needs a professional solution.
- If the power is out in only one part of your house, check the
breaker box for a tripped circuit breaker. If a breaker is
tripped, turn it off then on. If you don't see a tripped breaker,
try resetting all of the breakers.
- If you think an electrical outlet isn't working, check it by
plugging an appliance into a different outlet. If the appliance
works, and you've already checked the circuit breakers, the first
outlet may be burned out.
- If the malfunctioning outlet is a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet, it may just need to be reset. Usually on outlets by sinks, GFCIs protect against surges by cutting power. There is usually a button on the outlet that will reset it.
