Sick of Waiting for Hot Water?

frozen

After a long day, you don't want to turn the shower on and have to wait several minutes for the water to become warm. As the size of the average home has grown over the past several decades, so have issues with hot water reaching showers and sinks. However, David Gray Plumbing provides hot water recirculating systems that can get you hot water without the wait or waste.

What is a hot water recirculating system?

A recirculating system is created by installing a pump that continuously sends water back to the water heater. This constant loop results in instant hot water whenever you turn on the faucet.

Why should you have a recirculating system?

The recirculating system has two major benefits: convenience and conservation. Not only do you not have to wait for hot water, but you can also save on your water bill. Hundreds of gallons of water go down the drain while you're waiting for the water to heat up. With instant hot water, you're saving time, water and money.

What types of systems are there?

A variety of options are available depending on your needs:

  • A traditional system requires a dedicated return line that goes from the farthest plumbing fixture back to the water heater. This system constantly keeps the water hot, meaning you can turn on any fixture and warm water will immediately come out. You can reduce costs with this system by buying a timer that schedules your pump to heat water at times of the day when you're more likely to need it.
  • If you don't have a dedicated hot water line, you can install an instant hot water system either over the water heater or under the sink. In either location, the pump pushes the hot water into the cold line to ensure you have hot water at all faucets.
  • With an on-demand system, the homeowner activates the pump when hot water is needed. Once activated, the system will loop water back until it hits the desired temperature. Only then will water run from the faucet.
